The graduation exam at the Department of Political Science will take place in accordance with university regulations and the following methodology.

Bachelor’s degree exam

The finalization of undergraduate studies consists of two parts: (1) a written test assessing fundamental and specialized knowledge, and (2) the defense of the bachelor’s thesis.

Candidate registration will follow the regulations of Babeș-Bolyai University and the Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences.

Part (1) – The written test assessing fundamental and specialized knowledge will take place in the form of a written exam, in an exam hall.

• At the beginning of the exam, candidates must present valid identification.

• The candidate will receive from the bachelor’s committee a previously selected text for analysis.

• The purpose of the exam is to assess critical analysis skills and knowledge of fundamental and specialized topics. The candidate receives one text selected from a set of texts prepared in advance by the examination committee. The text is accompanied by a set of 9 predefined questions. These questions aim to evaluate the candidate’s understanding of the text’s arguments, conclusions, and the ability to critically assess it. Each question will account for 1 point out of the final score for part 1. The maximum score is 10 points. Grades will be given on a scale from 1 to 10.

• The exam will not exceed 90 minutes.

• The exam ends when the candidate submits the answer sheet to the committee.

• Evaluation: each committee member grades the candidate’s answers on a scale from 1 to 10.

• The final grade for part (1) is the average of the full grades given by the committee members.

• The results of the exam will be published after its completion.

The grades for the written test represent the arithmetic mean of the grades awarded by the members of the committee for each candidate.

• Candidates may submit an appeal regarding the written test within 24 hours of the exam. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the FSPAC secretariat.

• Appeal results will be published within 24 hours.

Part (2) – The defense of the bachelor’s thesis will take place as an oral exam, in an exam hall.

• The exam will follow a previously announced schedule communicated by the committee and displayed publicly.

• The exam is public.

• At the beginning of the exam, candidates must present valid identification.

• Each candidate will have 10 minutes to present their bachelor’s thesis.

• Committee members will have 15 minutes to ask questions related to the presented thesis.

• The bachelor’s theses will be available in electronic format at the secretariat at least 5 days prior to the defense.

• After submitting the application file and before the oral defense, all theses will be checked by the committee for similarity with other sources.

• Committee members will assign full grades for each candidate based on the content of the thesis, the quality of the presentation, responses to questions, and the supervisor’s proposal.

• The supervisor’s proposal is based on a written report evaluating: the relevance of the topic, compliance with formatting requirements described in the writing guide, definition of the theoretical framework, literature review, scientific style and citation accuracy, bibliography relevance, research design and methodology, presentation and interpretation of research results, conclusions, and the supervisor’s collaboration with the candidate.

• The final grade for part (2) will be the average of the full grades given by the committee members present during the session, excluding the supervisor if they are part of the committee.

• According to UBB policy, grades from oral exams cannot be appealed.

The final grade for the bachelor’s degree exam is the average of the two grades (rounded to two decimal places).

Final results will be communicated to candidates through the University’s AcademicInfo platform after the last exam has been completed for all registered candidates.
