WHY CHOOSE US?

We train experts in international relations, political studies, political analysis, feminism, political anthropology, survey data analysis, political discourse, and both classical and contemporary political theory.

Choose a faculty connected to the real world we live in. At Political Science, we talk about current issues, which are on the global agenda: globalization, cultural diversity, global warming, terrorism or migration. We also help you gain leadership skills and a way of interpreting how society and political systems work. The Department of Political Science at UBB Cluj was the first in the country to specialize in this field since before 1989.

You’ll have the opportunity to connect with students from other countries through institutional exchanges offered by our department. Through Erasmus programs, international students from Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, and Poland come to study with us. In return, by choosing our department, you’ll have the chance to study a semester or even a year abroad.

For over 10 years, the Department of Political Science has partnered with key national and local institutions where you can benefit from internships and practical training. Some of these include: the Presidential Administration, the Government of Romania, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diplomatic Institute, and the Romanian Parliament.

Our professors have studied or conducted research in prestigious universities across the U.S. and Europe. For example, professor Bogdan Radu completed his PhD at the University of California, specializing in international relations; professor Florin Fesnic earned his PhD at the University of Illinois, focusing on political parties and quantitative analysis using STATA. More of our professors are listed here.

Several professors from American universities (San Diego State University and the University of North Dakota) also teach in our department.

Our faculty benefits from modern facilities, including one of the best-stocked political science libraries, a high-performance computer lab, multimedia-equipped classrooms, and a university-wide wireless network accessible to all students.

Our successful alumni have built careers in politics, research, or have become experts in international institutions.

If we’ve convinced you, come join us and choose one of the three languages of instruction: Romanian, English, or Hungarian!
